"History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it."-Winston S. Churchill

"The wandering scholars were bound by no lasting loyalties, were attached by no sentiment of patriotism to the states they served and were not restricted by any feeling of ancient chivalry. They proposed and carried out schemes of the blackest treachery."-C.P. Fitzgerald.

The Tory Party is dissected in a superb article...

.... by Adrian Woolridge that can be found in this week's Weekly Standard. Titled The Michael Moore Conservatives, it outlines just how far the Tory Party has drifted away from an alliance with its sister party to the West, the Republicans.

I find this troubling. The only real ally we appear to have in Britain right now is Tony Blair. His back benches are in constant tumult, and his whips have had to be used now and again to keep his Government in power. The Conservatives dislike George W. Bush's affection for Blair, and have made their distaste for him known to the Bush White House. This article makes clear that present Tory disdain for the "Toxic Texan" runs deeper than just the relationship between Bush and Blair. A good read, and read the whole thing.
