"The wandering scholars were bound by no lasting loyalties, were attached by no sentiment of patriotism to the states they served and were not restricted by any feeling of ancient chivalry. They proposed and carried out schemes of the blackest treachery."-C.P. Fitzgerald.

In Theaters Now!

Apparently, Michael Moore's new film, Fahrenheit 9/11, has found an audience. In the Levant, groups fronting for Hezboallah are trying to distribute Moore's flick. (Hat Tip: Instapundit) Nice to see that news travels fast enough for our enemies to line up for popcorn.

It's funny. I used to be naive enough to believe that the nation would remain united behind the war against Islamic Fascism. I was wrong, of course. The butchery of our people that occurred on September 11th, 2001 seemed to be so earth-shattering at the time that no reasonable person could oppose whatever steps that were needed to destroy the beast. Boy, was I wrong.

What I hadn't counted on was the fact that the Left, with people like Michael Moore in the lead, would choose to hate George W. Bush with a greater ferocity than they could ever muster for the likes of bin Laden, al-Zawahiri, Saddam al-Hussein, or the new guy on the block, al-Zarqawi the Decapitator. Oh, I knew that there would always be the Susan Sontags and Noam Chomskys of this world. But I hadn't counted on the hate that would emanate from the Left towards our own leadership. Hatred of Bush and his fellows has come to trump victory in this war. As Moore himself said not long ago on his website:

“The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not ‘insurgents’ or ‘terrorists’ or ‘The Enemy.’ They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow – and they will win.”

-- Michael Moore in his message posted on his website, April 14, 2004

This in reference to the kind of people who have been killing our men in the Triangle, and to al-Zarqawi's Qaedist troops.

Moore's film is especially disturbing in that it has unleashed the inner fears of the Left Liberals who control Hollywood and occupy the commanding heights of the culture in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, London, and Paris. Trust me on this; they will flock to the Moore film because Moore has crafted a piece that takes counsel of people's fears. But not in the way you think.

Yes, Bush is painted as a craven, clueless dunce who stole the 2000 election, was asleep at the switch on 9/11, and buffaloed America into the Iraqi Campaign. I already know enough about Moore's standup and edit technique to know how Bush will be portrayed. I also know enough about Moore and his history (going back to Mother Jones magazine back in the Eighties) to know that Moore's work isn't documentary in nature, but more along the lines opropagandaopagagnda. But I have figured out that the reason why people on the Left will flock to this film is because they want an affirmation for their inordinate hatred of the one man who is ddamnedest damndest to save them from Islamist Fascism.

The Left is scared of the determination and ferocity of Al Qaeda. They want Usama Bin Laden to go away and leave them alone. Bush is the man who is telling them, in thought, word, and deed, that Mr. Bin Laden isn't going away anytime soon, and must be fought. The Left cannot make Bin Laden go away, but they can hate George W. Bush as a practical alternative. Iraq just happens to be the excuse. If we had limited our operations to Afghanistan, the Left would be jumping up and down about that conflict, as well.

Understand that in the past two years, George W. Bush's determination allowed approximately fifty million people to get a chance, just a Chinaman's chance, mind you, at liberty.

Now all might seem dark in this Summer of Discontent, but allow me to suggest that the divisions in the country are not as profound as one might think. Well talk about that in the next post, and why the findings of a study is good news for the President and the country.
