"History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it."-Winston S. Churchill

"The wandering scholars were bound by no lasting loyalties, were attached by no sentiment of patriotism to the states they served and were not restricted by any feeling of ancient chivalry. They proposed and carried out schemes of the blackest treachery."-C.P. Fitzgerald.

Meantime, while Sullivan was trumpeting the Bush Guard story...

...the guys over at Powerline were looking at the documents produced for CBS' Sixty Minutes II last night. The documents appeared to depict a selfish young officer who cared little for fulfilling his last year of duty to the Texas Air National Guard. Throughout the day, Powerline and other bloggers examined the four documents. The tipping point occured at midday when Charles over at Little Green Footballs typed out the "CYA" memo on MS WORD.

They matched. Exactly. This would have been impossible using a typewriter in 1972.

The Kerry people have been caught up, I suspect, in someone's plot to tip the election to John Kerry by means of forged documents. CBS News is just as guilty for not vetting the documents further.

Of course, the reason CBS didn't vet the documents enough is rather simple: they wanted them to be true.
